Partial Lease Horse for Class Use Only

This fee enables students to ride FHFEC horses for class only. Students are not responsible for vet costs or for farrier while using the horse and will have access to various mounts suitable to the level of the rider. This does not allow riders to participate in open riding except by appointment when horses are available and at an additional fee. Leased horses may be ridden during Friday afternoon lab times.

The Equestrian Center’s horses are leased on a first-come, first-served basis. Availability of lease of horses may be limited by rider’s weight and height. Lease horse appointments can be made by calling the Equestrian Center.

Bridle, halters, lead ropes, girth/cinches and grooming supplies are provided (saddles may be leased at additional cost and kept in FHFEC tack room). Saddles brought by students must be approved by staff for proper fitting to the lease horse. Student owned saddles are to be kept in boarder tack room or taken home. Students are responsible for all lease horse equipment used. DO NOT hang bridles inside stalls or place any equipment in feed boxes.

Students who hold partial leases on horses are bound to the same school and barn rules and regulations limited to the capacity of the lease. The horse is your horse for the class period. (riding, lab, etc.) You will be responsible for;

Your Horse's Stall
WATER

You are responsible for cleaning your horse's water bucket.

COBWEBS
Lease students are asked to sweep cobwebs inside and outside of their stalls.

No horses are to be turned out without permission of the barn manager or his/her representative. Students enrolled in Horse Care Lab classes must check with their instructor, barn manager or facility manager for compatible turn out groups for school horses.

No horses with rear shoes may be turned out with FHFEC horses or cows.

Riding tack MUST be cleaned and returned to the proper place after use. If you are not sure how or where to do these tasks, please check with your course instructor or FHFEC staff. Students are expected to arrange their schedule to allow adequate time for this.

Never let your reins touch the ground.  Do not leave your horse in the stall unattended with tack on. All riders are responsible for replacing reins broken due to rider’s negligence.

Please do not hand feed school horses treats without permission from staff.

Each horse has its own bridle. No school bridle is to be changed in any way without permission from an instructor or management. A student may use his/her own bridle on a horse for showing, but MUST purchase his own bit for use on his bridle; the bit must be exactly the same as the horse’s school bridle. No bits are to be taken off a school bridle to be put on a student’s own bridle.
